Charlie Reggae AKA Kenn Jones Office. A collector, book writer, label owner and guru of Reggae, Charlie Reggae had a new office built onto the side of his house. He commissioned myself to design him a new office, including the furniture. |

Stage One, the Briefing |

Original Office. Cluttered, on a old style workstation, not allowing to comfortably work. All his peripherals are not housed properly, which was part of his brief. To make sure that the workstation is shaped and sized to allow for all the existing items to sit within arms reach, and still allow for DSE compliant workspace. |

The first task was to measure up all the equipment required to sit on the workstation, then develop a worksurface which can house it all comfortably. This took several attempts, making sure it fitted in the room, where a wall was to be completely covered with a shelving unit. | ||

| Stage Two, the Design | |||||

The concept was then designed in 3D (AutoCAD)
making sure all the fittings aligned and from this model, a set of visuals
were developed and sent to the client for his approval. Which, with the room created in 3D, was placed together and visualised .using 3DS Max

| Stage Three, the Manufacture |

|
The extension was now finished and all ready for the workstation. Approval was given from Kenn to proceed, and the Engineering drawings, costings and a Bill of Materials was developed for Manufacture. |

Stage Four, the Installation |

When all the components were ready, and the
office was decorated, installation was completed.
The workstation was in 2 parts, for ease of installation, and due to the size. It was impossible to find the raw panel in the right size, and if it was, there would be too much waste material. The structure was similar to a table, with stiffening rails to stop the flex. The supporting legs were pillars, giving a light feeling below, and allowing for more storage to be place beneath. The side facials were steel formed plates, which fastened to the worksurface, pressed against the pillars giving a slab end effect. |

Sawston Steel A new Steel Pan Band, set up in 2005, based in the town of Sawston, Cambridgeshire. They commissioned me to design their complete identity, including a website and full marketing material. They play aroudn the county, in weddings, parties, open events, shopping centres and presentation events. |

Stage One, the Briefing |

In the early stages, the band were going to be
called 'Real Steel', but that changed after a few months, going over the
Sawston Steel name currently held today. A series of sketch logos were created, over weeks these were e-mailed over to the band until we came up with a decision. The main part to the logo briefing was it needed to be very clear, colourful, perhaps using the Caribbean colours and needed to be stitched onto clothing easily. |

The final solution, a full colour logo, with the
pans and notes depicting the idea they are a musical band. This logo within a week was embroided onto black shirts for the band to wear. |

|
Stage Two, the Marketing |

|
After this, the website was developed, within
it, certain areas had to be developed, a diary of events, photos of events,
downloads, contact details and a concise section of the band, who they are
and what they do.
They wanted to use the site for information, publicising themselves and gaining more functions to play at. |

As all good bands have, there were promotional
materials to develop, leaflets, banners and cards were developed, including
more adaptations of the logo's for use within other websites, or as on he
banner, a full beech schene.![]() ![]() |
